Research Blog - Wassily Kandinsky

Wassily Kandinsky:
Wassily Kandinsky was the son of wealthy parents in Russia. He studied law and economics in Germany, and later in life started painting. During World War One, he moved from Germany, to Moscow, but then back to Germany because he did not like the Soviet government's views on what was or wasn't art. In Germany, he taught at the Bauhous School of Art. After the Nazis closed his school, he moved to France where he died eleven years later.

Kandinsky's work evolved throughout his life. He started painting very lifelike landscapes using abstract techniques. He focused a lot on color and as time went on, he focused less and less on real forms, and more on abstract forms in bright colors.
